You know that whole thing about mechanics not taking care of their own cars?

As a social media manager for small clubs and volunteer organizations for years, I can say the same was true for my own social accounts.

In Summer 2025, for the first time in several years, I was not in charge of anyone else’s socials, so I decided to invest that time and energy back into myself.

I started a new public account called Good Life Éire to share my love of wine, travel, and life in Dublin, Ireland.

My daughter Nora was born and raised in Ireland. Our family was introduced to some Irish foods when she attended crèche. Another summer weekend slips by... It was a good mix of work and play 💚 Had so much fun at the Wine and Cheese Festival at the Bernard Shaw with a friend on Friday 🍷🧀 The rest of the weekend was spent recovering and finishing a house project. Here are a few spots in Oxford, England that are sure to delight humans of all ages! 🚶‍♀️Strolling around High Street Great variety of shops and great people watching! 🐉 The Story Museum Even if you aren't a book nerd like me, it's impossible to not be mystified in some way by something you experience here. The exhibit on the evolution of video games was fascinating and is on now! 🛍️ The Oxford Covered Market I love food markets, and this is a good one! Fully covered from the elements, there are dozens of small shops and restaurants with something for everyone. Here were my favorite spots inside 👇 🍷 The Market Cellar Door - inside A wine bar and shop with friendly, helpful staff. The local sparkling is delicious and you can feel good supporting Bridewell Gardens 💚 🧀 Oxford Cheese Company - inside Massive counter of cheese at very reasonable prices! 🥖 Hamblin Bread - inside The Country Loaf was some of the best bread I've had in a long time 🤤 ☕ Missing Bean Coffee Roastery The coffee and the cinnamon buns were out of this world! Trips to the bottle bank remind me of all the delicious wines I've tried recently. Before I toss the bottles in the bin, here are three that I really enjoyed: Pequenos Rebentos, Vinho Verde 'Lote 3' Vinho Verde, Portugal Grapes: Alvarinho, Loureiro, Trajadura Citrusy, acidic, with a hint of effervescence Paso-Primero Paso-Próximo Somontano, Spain Grapes: Garnacha, Parraleta, Moristel Juicy, light-bodied red with notes of black cherries. We handwrote our vows and put them in envelopes in a locked wooden box with a bottle of wine to be shared on our first anniversary. The wine box is still on display in our home. 2️⃣ I lost over 80 lbs (36 kg) in 2015 - 2018 by eating better and exercising. 3️⃣ I was interviewed for the 'New To The Parish' section of the Irish Times in 2023. I'll add a link below in the comments 👍 4️⃣ I love to sing and used to be very involved in various plays, musicals and choirs throughout school, and in my senior year of high school, I sang the national anthem at various school and city events. 5️⃣ I had a traumatic birth - emergency cesarean in a foreign country, and nearly died. This is a big reason why Nora is our only <3 I'm an open book - what you see is what you get. I may not share every aspect of my life on here, but you're not seeing a persona. You're seeing the genuine me who stumbles over my words, dances like a goon, and laughs in awkward situations. The Wine Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 1 Award in Wines is formalized Wine Apprecation. It's a fantastic introduction to the foundations of winemaking and the wines they produce. I learned so much in those two days that it was impossible to condense the entire class into a 60-second clip. So here are three basic but essential lessons I learned from WSET Level 1 😅 It’s not about being fancy, it’s about having fun and discovering wines you love to drink.
